CRO & Retention

Shopify conversion and retention growth

Turn the traffic you already have into more orders, and more of those orders into repeat customers. We run research-led CRO and lifecycle programmes for established Australian Shopify and Shopify Plus brands.

Conversion problem map

Revenue leaks at every step between a click and a repeat order. Here is where we usually find it.

01

Landing page

The ad promise and the page do not match, so visitors bounce before they scroll.

02

Navigation

Menus and search bury the products people actually came in to find.

03

Collection

Unfiltered, unsorted grids make shoppers work too hard to compare.

04

Product

Thin content, weak imagery and unanswered objections stall the add to cart.

05

Cart

Surprise costs and a clunky drawer send shoppers off to think about it.

06

Checkout

Too many fields, limited payment options and slow steps kill momentum.

07

Post-purchase

The confirmation and follow-up do nothing to earn the next visit.

08

Repeat purchase

No reason, reminder or reward to bring a first-time buyer back.

CRO service tracks

Eight focused tracks. Run one where the leak is worst, or several as a programme.

Retainer format

A typical monthly engagement. Scoped to your traffic and ambition after discovery.

What's includedDetail
Monthly researchRolling analytics, session and voice-of-customer review
Experiment capacityTypically two to four live tests a month, traffic permitting
Design hoursVariant design, wireframes and creative for each test
Development hoursBuilding winning variants and test infrastructure
ReportingMonthly results readout with decisions and next steps
Strategy meetingsFortnightly working session with your growth lead
Test backlogA living, prioritised queue of hypotheses

Who this programme fits

A good fit if you have

  • Steady traffic and enough sessions to reach statistical significance
  • Reliable order volume across the month, not the odd spike
  • Clean analytics you trust, GA4 and Shopify data that reconcile
  • An internal growth or marketing lead to own decisions with us
  • Capacity to ship and monitor tests, not just brief them
  • A development budget to build winning variants properly

Probably not yet if

  • You have just launched and traffic is still thin
  • Analytics is not set up, or the numbers cannot be trusted
  • There is no budget to build and maintain experiments

How we run the programme

A loop, not a project. Each cycle sharpens the next.

01

Measure

Set the baseline, the numbers we are trying to move.

02

Research

Combine data and voice-of-customer to find the real friction.

03

Prioritise

Rank ideas by impact, confidence and effort.

04

Design

Shape variants that each address a specific hypothesis.

05

Develop

Build them properly, fast, accessible, on-brand.

06

Test

Run a clean experiment until the result is trustworthy.

07

Analyse

Read the outcome by segment and watch for knock-on effects.

08

Deploy

Ship winners, document losers and feed the backlog.

CRO and retention FAQs

As a rough guide, you want enough traffic and orders to reach significance on a test within a few weeks, often from around transactions a month upward. Below that, testing takes too long to be useful, so we lean on research-led UX fixes and qualitative wins instead. In discovery we check your actual numbers before promising any testing cadence.
Research-led UX fixes can lift conversion inside the first month or two. Experimentation is slower by design, a clean test usually runs two to six weeks before the result is trustworthy. Retention flows compound over quarters, not weeks, so we set expectations track by track up front.
Both. We design and build the variants, stand up the experiment, and handle QA across devices. You get working code and clean data, not a slide deck of suggestions you then have to resource yourself.
We are tool-agnostic and pick what suits your stack and traffic, from native Shopify and app-based testing to platforms like , with GA4 and server-side data for analysis. For lifecycle work we usually build in Klaviyo. We recommend the leanest setup that still gives trustworthy results.
Every experiment is tied to revenue per visitor and average order value, not just conversion rate, so a win has to hold up on the money. We read results by segment and watch for knock-on effects further down the funnel. Flat tests and losers are reported as honestly as winners.
Yes. Most of our CRO work runs alongside an internal growth or marketing lead. We can drive the whole programme or plug into your existing process, backlog and stand-ups, and we agree clear ownership of decisions in week one.
Fix the store first. Sending paid traffic to a page that leaks is paying to fill a bucket with holes in it. A round of CRO on your key templates usually makes every acquisition dollar work harder, so we would rather tune the destination before you scale spend.
A losing test is still a result, it tells us the hypothesis was wrong and saves you shipping something that would have cost you orders. We document why, feed the learning back into the backlog, and move to the next highest-priority idea. Over a programme, the losses are what make the wins reliable.
