Shopify Cin7 integration

Cin7 (Core or Omni) runs your inventory, orders and purchasing. We connect it to Shopify so stock, orders and fulfilment stay in sync, one system of record, no double entry, no oversells.

When Shopify and Cin7 don't talk, someone pays for it

Cin7 is the AU/NZ-built platform your operations team trusts for stock, orders and purchasing. Without a clean link to Shopify, the gaps get filled by hand, and by your customers.

01

Manual re-keying

Orders exported from Shopify and typed back into Cin7. Slow, and one typo away from a mis-pick.

02

Stale stock levels

Shopify shows quantities Cin7 corrected hours ago, so you oversell lines you can't fulfil.

03

Fragmented fulfilment

Tracking and dispatch sit in Cin7 or the 3PL while customers refresh Shopify for an update that never lands.

04

B2B pricing drift

Wholesale price tiers maintained in Cin7 don't reach your Shopify B2B catalogue, so quotes and checkout disagree.

What syncs, and which way

A representative data-flow map. Direction and system of record are confirmed per object at discovery.

What a Shopify + Cin7 integration covers

We scope the exact objects, direction and timing during discovery. A typical build syncs the following.

What syncs

  • Inventory levels by SKU and location
  • Products, variants, barcodes and cost
  • Orders, fulfilments and tracking numbers
  • Purchase orders and inbound stock
  • B2B / wholesale price tiers
  • Customers and 3PL dispatch status

How it works

  • Cin7 as system of record for stock and purchasing
  • Near-real-time via webhooks, batch for bulk jobs
  • Directional rules set per object, not all-or-nothing
  • Location and warehouse mapping to Shopify
  • Idempotent writes so retries never duplicate

Reliability

  • Every sync logged with a full audit trail
  • Automatic retries with backoff on API failures
  • Alerting when a record can't be reconciled
  • Rate-limit aware queueing for both APIs
  • Dashboards for throughput and error rates

How we build it

A staged path from data audit to live monitoring, so nothing goes to production untested.

01

Discovery

Map your Cin7 setup (Core or Omni), locations, price tiers and edge cases. Agree the system of record for each object.

02

Data-flow design

Document every object, direction, trigger and field mapping. You sign off before we write code.

03

Build

Develop the sync against Shopify and Cin7 APIs, with logging, retries and idempotency built in from the start.

04

UAT

Test against real order and stock scenarios in a staging store, oversells, partial fulfilments, returns, bulk updates.

05

Deploy

Cut over with a reconciliation pass so opening stock and open orders match on both sides.

06

Monitor & support

Dashboards, alerting and a support line. We watch the first weeks closely and tune thresholds.

Shopify + Cin7 integration questions

Both, by object. Stock and orders move near-real-time via webhooks so you don't oversell; bulk jobs like a full price update run as batches to respect API rate limits. We pick per object during discovery.
If your catalogue, locations and pricing are straightforward, Cin7's native Shopify connector may be all you need, we'll tell you honestly. Custom middleware earns its keep when you have multi-location stock, B2B tiers, 3PL dispatch or field mapping the app can't handle.
We build it to run on infrastructure you own, or we host and manage it for you. Either way you keep the code, the logs and the credentials, no black box.
The sync retries with backoff and queues the record rather than dropping it. If it still can't reconcile, we alert and hold it for review. Nothing is silently lost, and retries are idempotent so nothing duplicates.
Two-way, but directional per object. Cin7 is usually the system of record for stock, products and purchasing; Shopify owns the order at creation. We define this explicitly so no field is written from two directions at once.
Yes. We map Cin7 warehouses and locations to Shopify locations, and build for whichever Cin7 product you run, Core or Omni. The object model differs between them, and we scope for yours.
