Shopify Microsoft Dynamics 365 integration

Connect your Shopify storefront to Dynamics 365 Business Central or Finance & Operations so customers, orders, inventory, pricing and finance stay in sync, without staff re-keying data between two systems.

When Shopify and Dynamics 365 don't talk

Dynamics 365 runs your finance, inventory and fulfilment as system of record. If Shopify sits outside it, the gap gets filled by manual work, and manual work drifts.

01

Orders re-keyed by hand

Staff copy Shopify orders into Business Central or F&O, introducing typos, delays and missed SLAs at volume.

02

Stock that lies

Inventory lives in Dynamics but Shopify shows stale counts, so you oversell lines that are already gone from the warehouse.

03

Pricing drift

Price lists and promotions updated in D365 don't reach the storefront, so customers see the wrong number at the wrong time.

04

Finance can't reconcile

Payouts, tax and customer records don't line up between platforms, and month-end close becomes a spreadsheet exercise.

What syncs which way

A typical mapping. We confirm direction, trigger and system of record for each object during discovery.

What a clean Dynamics 365 integration covers

We scope the exact objects, direction and triggers with your team, then build to Dynamics as system of record for finance and stock.

What syncs

  • Customers and accounts (B2C and B2B) with matching keys
  • Orders, fulfilments, returns and refunds
  • Inventory levels across locations and warehouses
  • Products, variants, SKUs and price lists
  • Invoices, tax and payout data for reconciliation

How it works

  • Direction defined per object, one-way or two-way
  • Dynamics 365 as system of record for stock and finance
  • Real-time via webhooks, or scheduled batch where it fits
  • Field mapping and transforms agreed in a data-flow spec

Reliability

  • Retries with backoff on transient API failures
  • Dead-letter queue for records that need review
  • Structured logging and an audit trail per sync
  • Alerting and monitoring so failures surface fast

How we build it

A predictable path from disconnected systems to a monitored, documented integration.

01

Discovery

Map objects, volumes, edge cases and which system owns each field.

02

Data-flow design

Agree direction, triggers, mappings and error handling in a written spec.

03

Build

Develop the connector against the Dynamics 365 and Shopify APIs, with logging baked in.

04

UAT

Test with your real catalogue and order scenarios in a staging environment.

05

Deploy

Cut over with a rollback plan and a controlled first sync.

06

Monitor & support

Ongoing monitoring, alerting and a support line when something needs a human.

Investment

Custom integration pricing is scoped after discovery. Typical bands for a Shopify + Dynamics 365 build:

D365 edition and API surface (Business Central vs F&O)Number of objects and sync directionOrder and catalogue volumesHosting model and monitoring requirements

Single-object sync

$9,000–$16,000

One direction, one or two objects, e.g. orders into D365.

Core two-way integration

$16,000–$32,000

Orders, inventory, products, pricing and customers with monitoring.

Enterprise / B2B

$32,000+

Complex mappings, multi-warehouse, B2B pricing and custom logic.

Shopify + Dynamics 365 questions

Both, chosen per object. Orders and inventory usually run real-time via webhooks; large price-list or catalogue updates often run as scheduled batches to protect API limits.
We build for either. The data objects overlap, but the APIs and connectors differ, we confirm your edition and licensing model in discovery.
If a marketplace connector fits your data and volumes, we'll say so. Where it can't handle your mappings, B2B logic or edge cases, we build a custom middleware layer.
Typically a cloud service we build and you own, hosted on your Azure or our managed infrastructure. We agree hosting, access and credentials up front.
Failed calls retry with backoff. Records that still fail land in a dead-letter queue with full logs, and alerts fire so nothing is silently lost.
Per object. Inventory and pricing usually flow one-way out of Dynamics; customers are often two-way. We define system of record for every field so there's no conflict.
